Behind the Scenes at Enasoit Camp: Where Luxury, Wildlife and Wellness Meet.
Words by Laura Bunting, Founder of Wildlife & Yoga
When you arrive at Enasoit, you’re met with a feeling that is rare in travel: the unmistakable sense of being welcomed home. Nestled in the foothills of Kenya’s Lolldaiga Hills, within the game-rich Laikipia ecosystem, Enasoit is a private conservancy with a soul. Once a cherished family retreat, it has been carefully transformed into a luxury camp while retaining its warmth, intimacy and deep connection to the land.
What unfolds here goes far beyond a typical safari. Behind each moment, morning yoga with giraffes grazing nearby, an alfresco lunch surrounded by trees, and a game drive that turns into a sundowner celebration, is a quiet team of people orchestrating the magic. This is the unseen rhythm of Enasoit.
The Daily Rhythm of the Wild
Each day at Enasoit begins in stillness. Long before the sun crests the horizon, the first mug of chai is poured. The askari, the gentle night guardian, has already walked the grounds to ensure everything is as it should be.
By the time guests rise, the yoga set up is prepped, the cushions fluffed, and flasks of rich Kenyan coffee await in the main mess tent. From there, the day flows with intention. Some days start with sunrise yoga overlooking the plains, and others are spent in the 4x4, exploring the wild landscape. Leisurely breakfasts with homemade granola and tropical fruit. Then, the decision: head out on a game drive or stay poolside with a good book and the zebra for company.
Each day is yours to shape.
A Private Safari Experience Curated With Intention
Enasoit is a private wildlife sanctuary spanning 4,000 acres. It borders the larger Lolldaiga Hills Conservancy and offers a front-row seat to some of Kenya’s most iconic species. Elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffe and more roam freely here, and they often wander right in front of camp.
Game drives are led by Enasoit’s expert guides, John, Peter, Lilian, and Zippy. Their quiet knowledge and storytelling bring the landscape to life. These are not rushed drives with crackling radios and crowds. They are immersive, soulful journeys guided by instinct and respect.
Prefer to stay close to camp? Guests can explore the bush on foot, ride Enasoit’s horses across the open plains or enjoy mountain biking with sweeping views of Mt Kenya in the distance.
The experience is entirely bespoke.
Wellness in the Wild
This is not a traditional wellness retreat. There are no rigid schedules or expectations. Instead, there’s space. To move, to rest, to connect deeply with yourself and with nature.
Morning vinyasa under the acacias. Quiet afternoons with elephants in view. Evening yoga nidra by lantern light. Each practice is held with care and designed to help you feel more at home in your own body.
And in between, the luxuries of simplicity: a massage under canvas, a refreshing dip in the pool, fresh juice to start the day. It’s all part of the rhythm here.
The People Behind the Experience
While the wildlife is spectacular, it’s the people of Enasoit who bring the magic to life.
Camp managers Karie and Pete bring years of safari experience and a deep commitment to creating unforgettable stays. Paul and Martin always know your preferred drink before you do. The room attendants sneak a hot water bottle into the bed at night to ensure you sleep the cosiest night. The chef crafts meals using local produce, blending Kenyan ingredients with Mediterranean flair. Expect vibrant salads, grilled meats, and indulgent desserts, always served with a smile.
This is hospitality in its highest form. Quiet, warm and deeply personal.

A Home With a Story
Originally a private family home, Enasoit has retained its soul. You feel it in the details. The antique furniture, the woven textiles, the fireplaces lit on cooler evenings. The camp has been designed to reflect this heritage, with just six double en-suite cottages and one family tent. Each structure is thoughtfully placed, with views of the waterhole where animals gather at all hours.
It feels like stepping into someone’s home. Because, in many ways, it still is.
Conservation With Heart
Enasoit is not only a haven for guests but also a critical part of Kenya’s conservation story. The conservancy plays an active role in protecting endangered species and preserving vital wildlife corridors between Laikipia and the northern rangelands. Staying here supports sustainable tourism, responsible land management and the local community.
Your retreat has purpose.
A Final Word
At Enasoit, luxury is redefined. It isn’t showy or extravagant. It’s quiet, intimate and rooted in connection to the wild, to each other and yourself.
